Advantages and characteristics of ceramic brake pads

2024 07/01

The biggest difference between ceramic brake pads and metal brake pads is that the metal content is very low. Metal in metal brake pads is the main material that generates friction, which has a large braking force, but also has a large wear and is prone to noise. After installing ceramic brake pads, there will be no abnormal screaming during normal driving, because ceramic brake pads have only a very low metal content, so the metal screaming sound similar to the friction between metal brake pads and counterparts is avoided.

The friction coefficient is the most important performance indicator of any friction material, which is related to the braking ability of the brake pad. During the braking process, due to the heat generated by friction and the increase in working temperature, the friction material of the general brake pad is affected by the temperature and the friction coefficient begins to decrease. In actual applications, the friction force will be reduced, thereby reducing the braking effect. When braking, ceramic brake pads can still maintain a high friction coefficient even when the temperature of the brake disc is as high as 650 degrees, so as to ensure that the vehicle has good braking performance.

Ceramic has good thermal stability and low thermal conductivity. Good wear resistance, long-term use temperature is 1000 degrees. This characteristic makes ceramics suitable for the high-performance requirements of various high-performance brake materials, and can meet the technical requirements of high-speed, safety, and high wear resistance of brake pads.

Brake pads will generate instantaneous high temperatures during braking, especially when driving at high speed or emergency braking. Under high temperature conditions, the friction coefficient of the friction pad will decrease, which is called thermal decay. For ceramic brake pads, even when the temperature of the brake disc is as high as 650 degrees, the brake pad still has a high friction coefficient to ensure safe braking. It can be seen that the thermal decay of the brake pad is very small.

High-quality material properties, little damage to the pair, and long service life.

Compared with other types of brake pads, it has the following advantages:

◆ Comfortable braking performance and quiet braking experience. Smooth braking, no vibration, no damage to the disc, and minimize the wear of the brake disc.

◆ Stable friction coefficient, excellent speed sensitivity, no reduction in high-temperature braking performance, and excellent anti-fading performance.

◆ Low dust fall and long service life.

◆ No toxic substances such as asbestos, safe and environmentally friendly.
